Buon Natale

Hi everbody! Frankly speaking, I have no idea what should I write today! Well, it's Christamas time. How did you spent Chirstmas Eve? We usually spend it all together with my family: me, my brothers, my sister, my parents, my auntie, my grandmothers and my grandpa. When we were young Santa Claus used to visit us with a lot of presnets. Now, he never comes again :( But at least presents are always under Christamas tree. After dinner and opening Christams presents we usually go to Pasterka. I think it's a typical polish traditional Midnight night mass celebrated between 24th and 25th of December. The 25th of December we spent in our house watching Christmas films (Family Man - 8/10) and playing board games (unfortunatelyi was almost the last one...) The 26th we organised with my parents a Christamas Party in our house, our friends came, we played another board game and then me and my boyfriend went to our friends to sing some carolls and eat barszcz :) There were also some

The cathedral

Hi guys! How is going? As I promised last week today I'll write some interesting curiosities about our cathedral. First of all, did you know that the Poznań Cathedral wa the first necropolis of polish kings and dukes? In the cathedral the archaeologists found graves of Mieszko I and his son Bolesłąw the Brave. Now graves of the polish sovereigns are located int the Golden Chapel. This mausoleum comes from 19th century and was found by Edward Raczyński. In the foto below you can see vey prominent sculpture. How to recognize who is who? It's easy! Mieszko I holds a cross as a symbol of converting to Christianity, while Bolesław the Brave grips a swors as a symbol of his warriorhood. Morover, in the cathedral you have to definitely go down to the cellar where you will see the remains of baptismal font. We know that Mieszko I in 966 was converted to the Christianity thanks to his wife, zealosus Christian Dobrawa, but in fact historians don't agree about the place

Benvenuti al Sud

Image
Hi! Today I would like to recommend you one of the funniest italian films which talks about streotypes. Even though there is an English title Welcome to the South I still prefer italian one Benvenuti al Sud. It's hard to write about it in English, cause talking about italian films, I usually do it in italian. It has a sequel Benvenuti al Nord but I haven't seen it yet.  What is all plot about?  It's about Lombardian director Colombo which didn't get transfer to Milan but... to the South of Italy. As we know there are a lot of stereotyopes about Italians. What's more even people from Milan and Bologna can be scared of South of Italy.  Why?  - "Because in Naples everyone is poor and has bad smell." - "In the South they don't speak Italian but strange dialect, so you cannot understand them." - "In the South la mafia is omnipresent."  - "They will kill just when you will eneter in their territory."

The cathedral island in Poznań

Image
The Cathedral Island in polish is called "Ostrów Tumski" - ostrów in old polish means island and tum means the cathedral. Last Satruday I was with my group there to explore this delightful place. In this area lived dukes, kings, artists and normal people. If you really want to do a tour in Ostrów Tumski you need to have more or less 4 hours. In this encalve there are located monuments like Archaeological Reserve called Genius Loci, psaltery, St. Mary Church, Archcathedral  Basilica and Archibishop Palace. Unquestionably, person who left the most important imprint on this territory is duke Mieszko I. He decided to create a sovereign state and so he adopted Christianity. I was very suprised when I discovered that in Ostrów Tumski was a palace of Mieszko and Dobrawa. This palace symbolised the power of Mieszko I. What's more, in the palace of the duke there was a first polish chapel from the iniciative of his christian wife Dobrawa. From the palace site was erected  St. Ma

City Guide Poznań

Yesterday I started a new adventure. And it seems quite fascinating to me! Well, I started a course for being a tourist guide in Poznań. I am fond of history and foreign languages so it looks like a perfect place for me to be! As one wide man said: "Traveling - it leaves you speechless, then turns you into storyteller." And it starts when you just leave your home looking for a new adventure. I would like to become a storyteller about Poznań, I would like to tell tourists about polish legends in alluring way and just know my city inside out. Well, it will not be easy, I will finish my course in March and I will pass (I hope) and exams from a practical and theoretical part so I think I have to study hard to be well prepared for this challenge. For now, I don't know much about Poznań. Of course, I know where the cathedral is, where you can drink a good coffee and where to go for shopping but I will try to increse my knowledge about my beautiful city just to pass the inform

Summer memories

Image
Hello! It's not easy to come back to our daily routine and to writing post every weekend. Well, I love holidays and I love spending it in an extraordinary way. I think I am very lucky and happy person and I really like sharing this love & happiness with others. So this summer I travelled to... Zambia! The Republic of Zambia is country in Southern Africa. We lived in Kasama, which is more or less 3 hours from Tanzania. Even though I don't know a lot about history of Zambia I know that (unfortunately) it has become the British colony. In 1964 Zambia became independent of the UK. Well, zambian motto is "one Zambia, one nation", but it's not so easy. There are a lot of different tribes which dwells this country. When you'll travel to the northen part of Zambia (Luapula Province) you'll meet Bantu tribe which speak Bemba. Whereas you will travel to Victoria Falls (amazing waterfalls in the southern part of Zambia) you will meet Tonga tribe. I can speak

Kotlina Kłodzka

Image
Hey guys! Summer is coming! Finally! So many things to do! SO many exams to write! So many project to finish! But well, I am very happy because on Friday I came back from school trip were I was a tourist guide. I have to tell you that being a tourist guide is very very stressul but also satisfying job. Last year I worked for Rainbow Tours and this one I changed a company and I'm satisfied 'cause new one is much more organised and firendly. It's smaller one and owners are very opend and friendly. And the other one is unfortunately a huge company. Well, so last 3 days I was guiding a class from Szamotuły. We traveld to Kotlina Kłodzka, we were in twierdza Kłodzka - monumental fortress and we've seen mine laying sidewalks. That was really a cool experience to work with children :) We went to Błędne Skały and Szczeliniec Wielki (polish mountains) and we looked for gold in one of the mines :) Stunning view from Szczeliniec Wielki :)

Zucchero.

Image
Hi! Today a short post about one of my favourite italian songwriters and singers. Zucchero. Sugar. I will suggest you some of his songs and bring closer to his life. He is italian born in Roncocesi in 1955. His career begun in Seventies when he found a small band. His internation career is spanning for many years. He took part in Festival San Remo - on of the most famous festivals in Italy. He sang with Pavarotti, Clapton and Sting. As he writes in his book "Suono della domenica" he loves a simple life. He compares himself to a carpetner who also has to do his work. We wakes up and goes to work. He works all day long to come for dinner to his house. I think most of his songs are really charming, although I confirm that some of them are not successful. I want to propose you my favourite Zucchero's song:  Let's start form English one. WONDERFUL LIFE. I really appreciate a chorus of that song: No need to run and hide It's a wonderful wonderful life No need to l

Life is life

Hi! How are you? Finally sun shines all day long, a lot of people go out, everyday I meet  people riding bicycles and... that's awsome! The only problems are... exams! I really don't get why all tests, exams ecc. have to be at the end of the semester.... I used to adore june because of it's temperatures and ice creams in all corners of the city but the vision of sitting in the library all day long is so oppressive. I don't want now to accuse teachers and professors of forcing us to study all June... But well, this is an ugly truth :P I'm really so anxious about my exams this years because from July I go to a volonteering project for almost 3 months. So I have to pass all my exam because I will not have another chance... So now I really dream of 29th of June and the end of exams... But as it is said, every man is the architect of his own fortune so there's no time for being blue or anxoius but to study hard. :D So maybe I should now finish my stupid post (well,

My lovely city Poznań

Image
In the last post I wrote you why do I love travelling. Today something totally opposite. I would like to share with you my idea why I really like my city - Poznań. First of all, it's not too big but not to small. If i want to go to my friend who lives in the opposite site of the city it takes me more or less 40 minutes. If I want to go to the cinema, to the theatre, to the shopping mall everything is so close. We've got airport with cheap fligts for example to Edinburgh or to Barcelona. We can go to small swimming pool or choose complex of swimming pools called Termy Maltańskie. If we are tired of the city we can go to Malta lake or go to chill out in the nearby forest. When we want to spend some time with family or friends in the city we can go to chinese, italian, french restaurant. Whatever you want. Some time ago I went with my boyfriend to another cosy and magic place in Poznań. PALM HOUSE!  In a moment you can be in Africa or in Asia. You can change climatic

My favourite italian city!

Image
Hello! Today I would like to present you my favourite italian city... I love all Italian Peninsula , but I have to admit that I don't know well South part of the Peninsula so I will write only about my experience and city that I've been to. My home. I've spent there 5 enjoyable months of my life and I appreciate that city because of it's monuments and museums. I am really keen on art so having opportunity to live in the most beautiful city in the world was a pleasure. I love Michelangelo and Leonardo all Renessaince is extraordinary. If I had to choose where to go to Erasmus once more, I would definitely pick up Florence. That was a marvellous experience which I will never forget. And city... well... it's only disadventage is "ocean of turists", going by bike I was always very attentive not to run over any of them. I didn't live in teh center so every day I had to go by bike more or less 20 minutes to reach my uni. Even though I was there 5 months

Why do I love travelling?

Image
Hello! Today I would like to explain you why I am so keen on travelling and why it is my biggest hobby. I want to share with you some stories and photos which will help you to understand my passion. 1) First of all I love this feeling of freedom. My childhood!

Image
Good afternoon!  It's time to catch up a little so... I think it will also be a good opportunity to revise my vocabulary for English test which is going to be this week!  So let's write a bit about my childhood and toys I really adored!  So what outdoor activities did I adore? I loved riding the see-saw and climbing trees. Frankly speaking, I still love all that stupid childish and immature activites like stepping on puddles or tickling others.  I used to build houses of cards and play hopscothch but I wasn't good at doing cartwheel.  When we were in the beach I hated sunbathing I always used to build castles and run. I can admit that I think now that sunbathing is really hunky-dory and pleasant - you don't have to do nothing! Always during polish Easter on Monday it'a a day called "Śmingus Dynus" with all my brothers, sister and friends we were organising IMMENSE WATER BATTLE. THAT WAS FUN! We used to prepare ourselves for hours bef

Surprise!

Image
That was a cool week! :) Now I collaborate with a company which helps people with their bussines practices. I had to help group of spanish people. We went to Stary Browar I helped them with their PEKA cards and what's more I practiced spanish! I've decided that I have to focus not only on my English and Italian but also Spanish. My big dream is to go to World Youth Days to Panama, so I really have to work on my Spanish. But frankly speaking I see the progress :) Furthermore, in Muza Cinema was Festival of Italian Films and me and my friends have chosen film called "Il fiore" - "Flower". Even though film wasn't charming and pleasant I think it was worth seeing it. It tells the story of two teenagers which are madly in love in each other but all the plot takes place in the italian prison. Well, the best adventage of this film was that.... it was in Italian (of course).  I attach italian trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XBpVt7SiLVM O

Warsaw time - The human Experience

Image
This weekend I spend in Warsaw in place called 'Salezjański Ośrodek Misyjny' which is the place where young people are prepared for being volonteers in the poorest countries of our planet. I've spent there 3 wonderful days with my friends. I still don't know the details but probably I will spend my "last summer" in another country working with children or homeless people. I'll let ou know :)  On Sunday I met my friends from Moldova - Emilia, Iulia and Sasza. I made an appointment with them and another friend Zosia. Because other friends were presenting their film we went to see it.  It's called "The human exeprience" and it's about two brother for light in the dark world". They are trying to be homless in New York, then they go to Peru where they help abandoned children. Their last adventure is in Ghana in the leper colony.   I absolutely think this film is worth seeing. If you' re interested of this documentary jus

Ooops!

Ooops! It's a long time I have written anything here. I have no exuces! Of course January and February are always the worst months because of exams. But everything passed, let's start a new semester! I really like this time of the year when sping is coming. Finally you don't have to wear all coats, hats and scrafs... and people look just more happy! I've recently heard about nature reserve called "Śnieżny Jar" so I am looking forward to visit it. As you know, I adore being a tourist/traveller/explorer all the time so I do it quite in Poznań. Finally I went t Porta Posnania ICHOT which is musem about beggining of our lovely city. As they promote themseves: " Porta Posnania tells a story of the Cathedral Island using various multimedia and interactive presentations." That's definitely true! All museum is very modern and I really appreciate a special areas for kids!  So if you have spare time and you don't know how to spend it well - you

Hey people! Wow, time flies to fast for me. Is it really January 2017? Week ago it was October, isn't it??? Nevermind. :) I am a wanderer never exhausted of new adventures so this time me and my friends packed our backpacks and travelled to... Riga :D I know that it's not on the bucket list of most travellers, but we went there for an European Meeting called TAIZE. It's a meeting of young people from Europe which pray togheter. Brothers of Taize are an ecumenical community. When we go on holiday we stay in varous places, this time we stayed in Latvian school. It was very beautiful time, we were volonteers so we helped to welcome normal partecipants of Taize meeting. We meet two fantasting girls from Germany: Coco and Julia and a lot of people from the Netherland and Belgium. It was time full of joy and passion.Every year I try to spend my New Year's Eve in another country partecipating to Taize meeting. And next year our destination will be Switzerland! T
